Pazo Santa Cruz de Rivadulla PhotosFrom: Pazo Santa Cruz de Rivadulla
It was raining during most of my early October visit to the Pazo Santa Cruz de Rivadulla, so I wasn't able to take many photos. However, this picture shows what I consider to be the high point of the palace's gardens: An olive grove with trees from the 15th, 16th, and 17th Centuries. This part of Spain is known more for acorns than olives, and olive groves on this scale aren't a common sight in the Galician countryside.
The olive trees in this section of the grove are said to be from the 15th Century. The ancient, gnarled trees continue to produce a crop of olives every year.
These cows in a nearby field were much younger than the olive trees. (Note the grapevines at the back of the pasture.) Back to: Pazo Santa Cruz de Rivadulla: Introduction
