Lübeck PhotosFrom: Lübeck, Germany
HolstentorThe Holstentor (shown here in winter) was begun in 1478 and is the most familiar symbol of Lübeck. The fortified gate was built to defend the city against Danish invaders. Its walls are three meters or 10 feet thick on the side that faces away from the city. Inside the gate, you'll find public toilets and the Holstentor Museum.
