Dr. Tomas H. Kaiser

We're eager advocates of do-it-yourself exploring, preferably at a leisurely pace. Still, there are times when you can't spare a couple of weeks to wander around a city on your own. At such times, a private guide can be invaluable. Where do you find such a guide? Often, the local tourist office will set you up with a knowledgeable guide who speaks your language. In Hamburg, one such guide for English- or German-speaking visitors is Dr. Tomas H. Kaiser.

Dr. Kaiser (though he doesn't expect to be addressed so formally) is a board member of the Hamburger Gästeführer Verein, a.k.a. the Hamburg Tourist Guides Association, which is limited to guides who have worked professionally for at least three years in the Hamburg metropolitan region.  He's certified by the BVGD (the Association of Tourist Guides in Germany), and he has several specialties that are worth mentioning: architecture, harbor history, bicycle tours, and the HafenCity.
