Rothenburg ob der Tauber

By air. Nürnberg Airport is the closest airport to Rothenburg, being just 90 km (less than 60 miles) away. If you're arriving from another continent, your best bet is Munich International Airport (241 km/150 miles) or Frankfurt International Airport (118 km/117 km).

Munich is the handiest international gateway if--like many English-speaking tourists--you plan to spend most or all of your German vacation in Bavaria. (If you're arriving in your own light plane, you can use the local flying club's public airstrip.)

Getting around town

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is extremely compact, and you can easily get around on foot.
