Corte di Gabriela photo

The Corte di Gabriela is a small four-star boutique hotel on a quiet street near the Campo Sant'Angelo, which is on one of the main walking routes between the Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. It was a wealthy family's private mansion until 2012, when it underwent a restoration and conversion that yielded 11 stylish rooms and suites.

(The larger family-size suites are in a separate building nearby, where they offer full kitchens and--in the ground-floor suite--a courtyard.)

Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., so there's no hurry to crawl out of bed if you were up gallivanting the night before.

How to reach the Corte di Gabriela from the Sant'Angelo airport-boat pier (Alilaguna Linea Arancio):

Corte di Gabriela map

  1. As you leave the boat pier (which is served by Alilaguna Linea Arancio airport boats and local water buses), walk down the narrow street ahead of you.

  2. In a moment, you'll come to an L-shaped square. Bear left, cross the square, and exit via the Calle de l'Albero.

  3. Turn right at the end of the short street, then immediately turn left, cross the bridge, and walk one short block to the Calle Avvocati.

  4. At the Calle Avvocati, turn right and walk about half a block. The Corte di Gabriela will be on your right, with the entrance marked by a discreet sign and a pair of planters. (See photo above.)
