Hotel Domus Ciliota, Venice

The Domus Ciolota is a reasonably-priced guesthouse in the San Marco district, not far from the Campo San Stefano. The Accademia Bridge and the Piazza San Marco are within a fairly short walking distance, and the hotel's neighborhood is served by the Sant'Angelo stop of the ACTV's No. 1 vaporetto and the Alilaguna Orange Line airport boat.

Domus Ciliota is housed in a former Augustinian monastery. The cloister is now a private courtyard where you can lounge outdoors in good weather. (No vows of silence are required.) All 32 rooms have refrigerators, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

How to reach Domus Ciliota from the Sant'Angelo airport-boat stop (Alilaguna Linea Arancio):

Domus Ciliota map directions

  1. As you leave the waterbus pier, walk inland on the street ahead of you.

  2. Continue into the L-shaped square (the Corte de l'Albero) and exit via a tiny street straight ahead of you at the south end of the square.

  3. Turn right onto Fondamenta Narisi and walk along the canal. Continue straight ahead, past the Calle del Pestrin, to a bridge called the Ponte Piscina San Samuele.

  4. Cross the bridge, which will lead you into the Piscina San Samuele.

  5. Go straight ahead for a short distance.

  6. Turn right at the Ramo de la Piscina. (Some maps identify this as the "Salizzada San Samuele.") Turn left almost immediately onto the Calle Crosera.

  7. Walk past the Calle dei Orbi and turn right into the Calle delle Muneghe. The Domus Ciliota will be a few doors down, on the left side of the street.
