Walking directions to Locanda Gaffaro (with map)
Booking.com
The
Locanda Gaffaro is a
small B&B that is easy to reach from the Piazzale Roma, which is Venice's
gateway for airport buses, land taxis, and the People Mover automated tram from
the Marittima cruise terminals and the Tronchetto parking island.
Facilities at the Locanda Gaffaro include free Wi-Fi, a courtyard-terrace,
and air conditioning in all six single, double, twin, and triple rooms.
How to reach Locanda Gaffaro from Piazzale Roma:
- On the tree-lined side of the Piazzale Roma, look for the central path
that leads toward the water.
-
A canal is just beyond the trees. Continue straight ahead
over the stone footbridge.
-
Follow the curving path through the greenery on the other
side of the bridge and continue just past the Hotel Papadopoli Venezia to a
small bridge over the Tolentini Canal.
-
Cross the bridge and turn right onto the Fondamenta
Tolentini. Walk to the next corner.
-
Cross the bridge directly ahead of you, turn left, and walk along the
canal on the Fondamenta del Gaffaro.
-
In a minute or two, you'll see another bridge on your left.
Turn right at the bridge onto the Fondamenta Malcanton.
-
Just ahead, you'll see a narrow street on your right
(the Corte del Gallo) as the Fondamenta Malcanton makes a bend around the
canal.
-
Turn right into the Corte del Gallo, then immediately
bear left and go around the large yellow building that you'll see ahead of
you. The Locanda Gaffaro's entrance is an iron gate on the Corte Surian. (If
the gate is locked, press the doorbell on the brick wall alongside.)
From the Marittima cruise terminals:
-
Take a free shuttle bus (if available), a taxi, or the
People Mover just outside
the port gates to the Piazzale Roma. (You can also use the People Mover if
you're coming from the Tronchetto parking garage.)
-
Follow the directions above.
From the Santa Lucia railroad station:
-
As you leave the station, turn right and walk toward the
modern Calatrava Bridge (a.k.a. the Ponte della Costituzione).
-
Cross the bridge to the Piazzale Roma.
-
Bear left and follow the directions from Piazzale Roma.
