Palazzo Abadessa photo

The Hotel Palazzo Abadessa (residenza d'epoca) is a four-star boutique hotel in a former Doge's residence from the 1500s.

The building is just what you'd expect of an authentic palazzo: It has a dramatic entrance hall, period furnishings, enough frescoed ceilings and paintings to keep a museum curator happy, and a garden where you can sit on a marble bench or have breakfast amid the flowers and trees.

How to reach the Palazzo Abadessa:

Our directions assume that you're taking an Alilaguna Linea Blu (Blue Line) airport boat from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Fondamente Nove.

  1. As you leave waterbus platform "A" at F. Nove, look for the Salizada Spechieri. This is a street just to the right of the pier.

  2. Walk inland on the Salizada Spechieri, past the Gesuiti Church and through the Campo dei Gesuiti to a canal.

  3. Turn right immediately before the bridge. Walk along the Fondamenta Zen to the next bridge (called the Ponte Santa Caterina o Zanardi).

  4. Turn left and cross that bridge. Continue walking straight ahead on the Calle Zanardi and the Ruga dei Due Pozzi.

  5. When you reach the next canal, turn right onto the Fondamenta Priuli. Walk a few meters and cross the bridge on your left.

  6. The Palazzo Abadessa is just after the bridge on the Calle Priuli. (The building is on the right side of the street at no. 4011.)
