Palazzo Giovanelli e Gran Canal and Alilaguna Linea Arancio airport boat

The Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli e Gran Canal is a stylish four-star hotel facing the Grand Canal, immediately next to the San Stae vaporetto and airport-boat stop. It's also next door to the San Stae Church and across from the Venice Casino, so you can enjoy God, Mammon, or both during your stay.

The hotel is located in the former Foscarini Giovanelli Palace, which housed a doge (the city-state's top elected official) during the heyday of the Venetian Republic.

Accommodations range from attic dormer rooms to junior and not-so-junior suites. Although the building has its share of restored architectural detail, the prevailing decor is contemporary.

How to reach the Palazzo Giovanelli from San Stae:

Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli & Grand Canal map directions

  1. As you leave the Alilaguna Linea Arancio airport-boat platform at San Stae, turn left and cross the square in front of the church.

  2.  The hotel will be directly in front of you, facing the square.
