The four-star Hotel Principe has a deceptive appearance if you approach on foot. On the entrance side, you'd never guess that the hotel occupies a series of historic buildings that face the Grand Canal, with many rooms and a restaurant terrace overlooking the water.

How to reach the Hotel Principe from Santa Lucia Railroad Station:

Hotel Principe map directions

  1. Leave the station by the marble steps outside the main doors, or by the easy-to-miss (and conveniently stair-free) side exit if you have rolling luggage, a stroller, or a wheelchair.
  1. When you reach the wide fondamenta or pavement in front of the station, turn left.

  2. Walk past the Scalzi Church and the Scalzi Bridge toward the Lista di Spagna (a busy pedestrian thoroughfare).

  3. Continue down the Lista di Spagna for a short distance. The Hotel Principe's entrance is less than a block beyond the Scalzi Bridge, on the right side of the street.

From the Piazzale Roma:

  1. Look for the Calatrava Bridge (a.k.a. the Ponte della Costituzione). It's the large modern bridge at the northeast corner of the square, next to the Hotel Santa Chiara.

  2. Cross the bridge and continue straight ahead, past the large building on your left, to the train station.

  3. From the station, follow the directions above.

From the Marittima cruise terminals:

  1. Take a shuttle bus, a taxi, or the People Mover to the Piazzale Roma.

  2. Follow the directions above.
