Balneario de MondarizPage 3
The Balneario de Mondariz HotelToday's spa hotel occupies several 19th Century buildings. From the main entrance and lobby (right), an underground passage (inset photo below) leads to modern, attractively-furnished guest wings built within historic structures such as the former Acqua de Mondariz bottling plants. The hotel has 146 air-conditioned rooms. I was quite comfortable in room 405, a twin-bedded room with a large, well-equipped bathroom and terrycloth robes for spa outings. (Disabled guests are well-served by the hotel, which has lifts, ramps, and special garage spaces for physically-challenged visitors.) The Balneario de Mondariz Hotel has an excellent restaurant on the premises; guests can also sample restaurants and cafés in the village, which is a short walk from the hotel and spa. For more information in Spanish, visit www.balneariomondariz.com. If you prefer English, visit Booking.com's Balneario de Mondariz pages (which are available in several dozen languages and currencies). Location The Balneario de Mondariz is 25 km from Vigo Airport, 15 km from the Porriño railroad station, and 30 km by road from Tuy in Galicia. It's also within a manageable driving distance of Santiago de Compostela (110 km), A Coruña (160 km), and Porto, Portugal (150 km). I visited the spa during a leisurely journey from Porto to Santiago de Compostela (see inset photo), and I can recommend the Balneario de Mondariz as a pleasant overnight stopover--or a two-night stopover, if you take time to enjoy the spa.
