ABOVE: Central Mestre is a lively place, with a large square (the Piazza Ferretto), shops, cafés, street markets, and several good hotels.

Mestre and Marghera hotels are scattered all over the map. For the most part, we recommend staying at hotels that are convenient to airport or rail transportation.

Still, if you plan to arrive and depart by taxi or car, other locations may be worth considering. On this page, we've listed hotels in two groups: those in the center of Mestre, within walking distance of the Piazza Ferretto (see photo above), and hotels that are just a bit farther afield.

Hotels in central Mestre:

imageHotel Vivit ***
This hotel's location couldn't be more central (or more appealing): It's on the Piazza Ferretto, Mestre's main square, where you'll find the cathedral, restaurants, cafés, shops, and other places of interest. Wi-Fi is free, and public parking is available for a fee nearby. Public buses run to and from Venice's Piazzale Roma.

imageHotel Venezia ***
The Venezia is in the heart of Mestre's shopping district, within easy walking distance of the Piazza Ferretto. It has 120 rooms, free Wi-Fi, and
free parking on the premises. A short walk takes you to an ACTV stop where public buses run to Venice every 10 minutes or so.

Residenza Giacomuzzi
This 3-room B&B has a stunning reputation but can be tricky to find. (The residenza is on the second floor of a restored building in the Calle del Sale, just off the Piazza Ferretto.) It offers free Wi-Fi and
free parking nearby. Note the check-in and check-out hours before booking.

Hotels just beyond the town center:

imageHotel Ambasciatori ****
The Ambasciatori is on the Corso del Popolo, a major street just to the east and south of Mestre's town center. Restaurants, cafés, and supermarkets are nearby, and public buses offer a quick commute to Venice's Piazzale Roma. The modern hotel has 93 rooms, free Wi-Fi, and paid parking. (Like the Delfino next door, it attracts tour groups.)

imageQuality Hotel Delfino ****
The Delfino is operated by the same management as the Ambasciatori (see above), and it's similar in size and amenities. Wi-Fi is free, and paid parking is available on the premises.

imageHotel Adria ***
The Adria is on the Via Cappuccina, not far from the city center and about a 15-minute walk from the railway station. (Public buses run to Venice's Piazzale Roma.) It has 29 rooms, free Wi-Fi, and paid parking.
